TIPS TO DEAL WITH THE HEAT ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE

TIPS TO DEAL WITH THE HEAT ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE

We are in the middle of a summer heat wave and we do not want to give up going out on the road or making our daily journeys with our motorcycle or scooter. What can we do to alleviate the unbearable heat to a greater or lesser extent? r we give you some tips to make the hours you spend driving under the summer sun more bearable.

WEAR COOL CLOTHING AND HELMETS WITH AIR INTAKE
If you can, it is advisable to put aside leather or rigid sanity garments. The appropriate thing is to acquire cooler summer technical textile garments, designed for driving and protection in summer. These garments usually replace part of their fabric with mesh, facilitating ventilation and air circulation. There is quite a variety and you will surely find something that satisfies you. Jackets, pants, summer gloves or perforated footwear are some of these products to consider.

On the other hand, in summer it is almost an obligation to use good quality helmets with sufficient air inlets and good circulation. If we drive on urban routes, we can use a modular or Jet type helmet, although we have to be consistent with the lesser protection capacity they offer. Another option is to use cross -type helmets due to the large front opening they offer, although they are not suitable for traveling on the highway or highway at medium-high speeds.

If we cannot or do not want to make an investment in complete summer equipment, we can look for alternatives that help us to be cooler. For example, we can resort to some type of shirt with ceramic components that favour
he evaporation of sweat and stimulate the circulatory system of our body; or cooling vests that we can submerge in water and keep us cool by retaining moisture and without releasing water. We also have ingenious alternatives, such as using cooling gel bags that we can strategically distribute inside our garments. They come in many sizes and are reusable.

PLAN YOUR TRIP AND HYDRATE PROPERLY
Leaving equipment aside, we will refer to other circumstances to avoid on our summer trips. The main thing is to avoid the central hours of the day for obvious reasons, which we can take advantage of to eat something light and drink to hydrate ourselves.

If you travel on urban routes, plan your trips and avoid crowds, traffic jams and routes with many stops between traffic lights. The heat given off by the vehicles around you and the asphalt itself are bad companions on your journey. Try to navigate narrow streets where it is easier for the shadow of the buildings to cover the entire street.

If you are going on a route, try to hydrate and drink as much as possible before leaving, make more stops than usual to replenish fluids or get some kind of Camel-Back to be able to drink on the go.

PERFORM GOOD MAINTENANCE ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE OR SCOOTER
Your motorcycle or scooter also needs attention and protection. It is necessary to keep them in good mechanical condition (with special attention to the engine's cooling system), to keep the air inlets to the engine clean and to try not to make mechanical demands on them during strong hours of heat.

We hope these tips will be of help or reference for these summer days and you can continue enjoying your motorcycle or scooter.
